LOVE STILL SHINES, DESPITE HARD TIMES
JOBLESS OR FORECLOSED GET FREE NECKLACE
The members of the Independent Jewelers Organization (IJO) have banded together to bring joy on this Valentine's Day to people who are struggling due to the loss of a job, or their home. SAWOTKA’S DIAMOND CENTER, DOWNTOWN APPLETON, has joined in with many fellow Master IJO Jeweler retail members, and is offering to provide a sterling silver heart necklace to about 100 deserving individuals - for free.
"We're well aware of the state of the economy," says RICK SAWOTKA, of SAWOTKA’S DIAMOND CENTER. "And if there's something we can do to help someone who's going through some tough times to be able to show their love with a Valentine's gift, we're all for it." To claim their necklace, individuals need to bring in their termination or foreclosure notice, and personal identification, such as a drivers license.
Just through word of mouth and discussions within the organization, this program has snowballed and is now taking place all over the country. It began in Ventura, CA, and the number of participants has grown - very quickly.
"I heard about this from our member, Debbie Fox, who started this program in her own store, and also from IJO President Jeff Roberts”, says RICK SAWOTKA, "and I thought it would be a wonderful gesture for SAWOTKA’S DIAMOND CENTER to give back to their communities."
